The Five Stages of Grief

BTEC Level 3 Art and Design: Photography

These images were part of my A-level Photography exam project ‘Visceral’, where I specially decided to focus on the different stages of grief. In this project I wanted to explore the different ways I could evoke such visceral emotions in an image and thus experimented with the use of colour, expressions and words to see the different effects they have on the viewer. I used influences from artists such as Kathe Kollwitz and Carol Benitah to generate ideas. Through my photography, I aimed to document the experience of grief and did so by creating a series of images which describes the narrative of losing someone.
